The 2008 KATS has come to an end.  I believe that everyone agreed that this year was an AWESOME series! Our 1st event on lake Decker was postponed 1 week due to inclimate weather. The following week proved to be much better conditions however the wind picked up in the afternoon forcing anglers to seek out sheltered water. The next event the following month on lake Bastrop found the anglers bundling up against the 28 degree chill at launch time. Once again, the sun shown brightly and the wind picked up in the afternoon. In mid April, the series took a western swing to upper lake Travis. Although the weather was warmer, we had another post-front day and the wind was whipping the water up making for tough conditions. The final event in May on Lady Bird lake was near perfect fishing weather after a horrible storm 2 days prior.

In light of the above conditions, Robert Dockery prevailed and claimed the tidle of 2008 KATS Angler of the year. His consistant finishes and hard work paid off as he took home a new 2008 Native Ultimate 12 supplied by
Lakeline Watersports and $200 gift certificate supplied by Sportsman's Warehouse Round Rock.

Coming in a close second was Steve Garcia. Steve quietly goes about the business of catching fish as evidenced with his 2 wins of the 4 events. He won a 2008 Hurricane 120.

Our third place winner was a dark horse that came through in the clutch with a solid 5th place finish on LBL. Robin Fuller takes home $200 cash and a $100 gift certificate supplied by
Mud Outdoor Center.

Our 2007 KATS Angler of the Year, Michael Bayer, garnered enough points to place him solidly in 4th place and won $100 cash and $150 gift certificate supplied by Lakeline Watersports.

With a poor finish on the last event, Dennis Hermes, rounded out the field in 5th place. Being the tourney director, he opted to seed his prize of a $75 gift certificate (
Lakeline Watersports ) to Troy Lawson in 6th place overall. Troy could have (should have) wrapped up the overall win on lake Travis however, bad luck prevailed and he lost his camera overboard, thus giving him a zero for the event and knocking him out of contention.

Other mentionables was Bill Ellis with his win on lake Travis and our Big Bass winners Michael Bayer (twice), David Vuillemin, and Edward Rodriquez.

Thanks goes out to our series sponsors and all the anglers who competed...you are ALL winners!
See you next year in February!
